The inhabitants of the Upper City live in luxury high above the clouds, while those of the Lower City struggle to survive in a wasteland overrun by monstrous beasts and shrouded in poisonous miasma. Ning Fan, a poor student from the Lower City, becomes a wanderer who takes on high-risk jobs to earn money in order to save his mother.
